Origins & Immortals
Amara
The first Anchor
Qetsiyah's handmaiden, and the woman Silas chose. She drank the second dose of the elixir. Qetsiyah did not kill her — she made her the Anchor to the Other Side, immortal and conscious, and every supernatural death for the next two thousand years passed physically through her. She was kept in a stone box. Silas was shown a body and allowed to believe she was dead.
She is freed in 2013, by which point she is not remotely sane and wants nothing except to stop existing. She takes the cure — and once Stefan has killed Silas, she picks up the same blade and stabs herself, dying human minutes after him.
Details
- Every Petrova doppelgänger — Tatia, Katherine, Elena — is a copy of her face, printed by nature as a correction for her immortality.
- Bonnie Bennett takes the Anchor role from her, which is why Bonnie can suddenly touch the dead.
- She is the oldest continuously conscious being in the franchise: roughly two thousand years without sleep, sedation or company.
