Witches & Magic
Emily Bennett
Katherine Pierce's handmaiden and a Bennett witch. She faked Katherine's death in the 1864 church fire and sealed the other twenty-six vampires in a tomb beneath it — not dead, just desiccating, under a spell keyed to a comet that would not return for 145 years. The Founders burned her at the stake.
Her grimoire and her spells drive half the plot of the first season from beyond the grave, and her spirit possesses Bonnie in 2009 to destroy her own talisman rather than let Damon use it.
Details
- Her deal with Katherine was simple: save the vampires, and leave the Bennett line alone.
- The comet timing is the only reason Damon Salvatore comes home in the pilot.
