Vampires
Damon Salvatore
The elder Salvatore brother, turned in 1864 only because Stefan made him complete the transition, and furious about it for a hundred and forty-five years. He came back to Mystic Falls in 2009 to open a tomb and get Katherine out, discovered she had never been in it, and stayed.
He was Augustine subject 21051 in 1953 and escaped by leaving Enzo St. John to burn. He kills Vicki Donovan, Zach Salvatore, Lexi, Aaron Whitmore, Enzo and a great many others, and the show does not let him off any of it. He is cured by Stefan's blood in 2017, grows old with Elena, and dies human.
Details
- His friendship with Bonnie Bennett, built in a prison world neither of them chose, is the most convincing relationship in the last four seasons.
- He is sired to nobody and sire-bonds Elena to himself by accident, which he hates.
- He spends sixty years planning to wait for Elena and never has to, which is the closest the show gets to mercy.
