Stefan and Damon's mother, officially dead of consumption in 1858 and in fact a vampire — and a ripper, which her younger son inherits in every way that matters. She went to Europe rather than come home as a monster, turned six siphoner witches into vampires, and called them her real family in front of both her sons.
The Gemini coven sealed all of them into a 1903 prison world. She comes back in 2015, refuses for a hundred and fifty years to believe what Julian did to Valerie, and dies in a way that finally forces Damon and Stefan to be brothers again.
