Wolves & Hybrids · Era III, The Long Middle
The Curse of the Sun and the Moon
A lie, and a very good one. Klaus fabricated an ancient curse binding vampires to the night and werewolves to the moon, and seeded it into Aztec and Viking legend so both species would spend centuries hunting the moonstone and the doppelgänger on his behalf. There is no such curse. There is only his.
Details

- Elijah is the one who eventually tells Elena the truth, which is the moment the show's mythology snaps into focus.
