A man from the werewolf village next to the Mikaelsons' settlement, and Esther's lover. Niklaus is his son. Mikael found out when Klaus's first kill triggered the wolf gene, and killed Ansel and everyone else in the village that night.
Esther resurrects him a thousand years later in New Orleans. He offers Klaus the one thing nobody has ever offered him — a father who is glad he exists — and Klaus kills him inside a day rather than believe it.
