The Travelers finally get both living doppelgängers into one place and cast. It breaks the curse on them and simultaneously unmakes every other form of magic inside the town's borders — which is why Mystic Falls spends a season as a place where witches cannot cast and vampires cannot heal.
Details
- Vampires who enter the zone start dying of their original cause of death. It is the best single mechanic the show ever built.
- Killing Markos costs Damon and Elena their lives, temporarily — and the anti-magic border outlives them, until Kai Parker siphons it out of the ground months later.
- Travelers possess dozens of townspeople, including Sheriff Forbes, to gather enough witches for the spell.
- Once the spell lands, any vampire inside the town limits begins to die of whatever killed them originally. Vampires older than a century simply desiccate.
- Damon and Elena blow up the Grill with the Travelers inside; Bonnie has to become a doorway for the dead at the exact moment the Other Side falls.
