Death & Afterlives · Era IV, Mystic Falls, 1864
Sybil & Seline
Two sisters from antiquity, made immortal by Cade and sent out to lure and psychically enslave people and deliver their souls to him. Sealed in the St. John family's Armory vault for centuries, released in 2016. They turn Damon and Stefan into Cade's collectors, which is how the final season earns its stakes.
Details
- A siren's control is total and does not require eye contact, which makes them the only villain compulsion cannot beat.
- Seline was the twins' nanny for a season before anyone worked out what she was.
- They eat people, and the show does not soften it — their immortality has a literal, cannibal cost.
- Seline posed as the Saltzman twins' nanny for months, grooming them as her replacement pair of sirens.
- Sybil's control works through the mind rather than the eyes, and cannot be blocked by vervain, which makes her the one villain the town's standard defences do nothing against.
