Two thousand years of one story, Silas to the Salvatore School.

Silas & Qetsiyah

c. 100 BC

Silas, a warlock of the ancient world, and Qetsiyah, the strongest witch of her age, were betrothed — and together they made the first immortality elixir. Silas drank it with her handmaiden Amara instead. Every supernatural thing that follows for two thousand years is Qetsiyah's revenge for that afternoon.

Details

  • Immortality here is not vampirism. Silas eats normally, walks in daylight, and cannot be staked. Vampires arrive a thousand years later and are a cheaper, cursed imitation.
  • Qetsiyah and Silas were both Travelers — their two most powerful members — before her spell split the witch world. Bonnie Bennett descends from her.
  • Silas is also a powerful psychic — he can make anyone see anything, which is how he spends most of his screen time wearing Stefan's face.
  • The elixir was made from Qetsiyah's own blood and a spell she wrote. Silas asked her to make it so they could be together forever; he had already decided who "together" meant.
  • He is not a vampire and not a witch any more — he is simply a man that nature refuses to kill. He can starve for two thousand years and still be conscious at the end of it.
  • Qetsiyah's revenge has three parts, and all three are still running two thousand years later: the cure, the Other Side, and the doppelgängers.
