Killing an Original
White oak, at last. Finn dies in 2012 and takes a whole sireline with him — which is how everybody learns the rule. From that point the entire cast is one stake away from mass extinction, and the question of who sired whose line stops being trivia and becomes a survival problem.
Details
- Kol dies in 2012 by white oak, in Mystic Falls, at Jeremy's hands, and the fallout is enormous.
- Esther and Mikael both return from death in this stretch. Neither stays.
- Alaric is turned by Esther in 2012 into an Enhanced Original Vampire — a vampire built to exterminate vampires, briefly the most dangerous thing alive, and undone by his link to Elena's life.
- Kol is burned alive by Jeremy and Elena in 2012 in order to hunt the cure. Kol's whole sireline goes with him, and the show barely pauses.
- The rule is applied loosely afterwards; The Originals eventually settles it, which is the version this codex uses.
